The wire used in heaters have high melting and boiling point because in a electric heater we need to develop high temperature as a result to boil water.

To develop these high temperature the materials used should high melting and boiling point because material which would have low melting and boiling point will melt due to which we will not be able to develop such high temperature.

Also to create heat the material (wire) should have high resistance so that the flow of Electricity will create heat according to 'heating effect of electric current'.

For these purpose the wire is made up of alloy having high resistivity which will create heat.

As a combined effect wire having high resistance, high melting and high boiling is used in a electric heater or appliances working on the principal of heating effect of electric current.

hope it helps...
