a² + 2ab + b² - ( a² - 2ab + b² ) = 4ab
a² + 2ab + b² - a² + 2ab - b² = 4ab
2ab + b² + 2ab + b² = 4ab
4ab + b² - b² = 4ab
4ab = 4ab
4ab - 4ab = 0
