Given:-

  • The mass of a lead piece is 115 g.
  • When it is  immersed into a measuring cylinder, the water  level rises from 20 ml mark to 30 ml.

To find:-

  • The volume of the lead piece,
  • The density of the lead in kg/m³

Solution:-

Given that,when it is  immersed into a measuring cylinder, the water  level rises from 20 ml mark to 30 ml.

Hence,

  • Initial volume = 20ml
  • Final volume = 30ml

Volume of lead piece:-

➜Final volume - initial volume

➜30 - 20

➜10ml

We know,

1 ml = 1cm³

10ml = 10cm³

Therefore,

➜Volume of lead piece is 10cm³.

Using the formula,

Density = Mass/volume

Putting values,

➜Density = m/v

➜115/10

➜11.5g/cm³

We know,

1g/cm³ = 1000kg/m³

11.5g/cm³ = 11500kg/m³

Hence,

The density of lead is 11500kg/m³.
