Concept-

Use the concept of fractions. Fractions are numerical values that are part of a whole. An entity can be an object or a group of objects. if a number or thing is divided into equal parts, then each part will be a fraction of the whole. A fraction is denoted a/b, where a is the numerator and b is the denominator.

Given-

There were 120 tiles out of which only 72 were used .

Find-

How much fraction is left when 72 tiles were used out of 120 tiles.

Solution-

Fraction of tiles left = Total number of tiles - Number of tiles left / Total

                                     number of tiles

Fraction of tiles left = 120 - 72 / 120

Fraction of tiles left = 48 / 120

Fraction of tiles left = 2/5

Therefore, fraction of tiles left is 2/5.
