Answer:-

Given:

  • Number of soldiers = 1200
  • No. of days food lasts for = 28days
  • No. of days food lasts after some soldiers left = 32 days

To Find:

  • No. of soldiers left

Solution:

Let the number of soldiers left be x

➥After 4 days,

For 1200 people food last for

= 28 - 4

= 24 days.

➥Number of persent soldiers be 1200 - x

For 1200-x people food lasts for 32 days

Here, inverse variation between soldiers and no. of days as here the no. of soldiers decrease and food last for more days.

So,

1200 × 24 = ( 1200 - x ) × 32

➨ 28800 = ( 1200 - x ) × 32

➨ 28800 ÷ 32 = 1200 - x

➨ 900 = 1200 - x

➨ x = 1200 - 900

➨ x = 300

x = No. of soldiers left

= 300.

No. of soldiers left are 300.
