Answer:
this is already in a fraction
Per - cent literally means “per hundred"
So, given that (remember, just a hunch)
You could supposedly say that 12.5 (per hundred)
would maybe, probably be somewhat equivalent to, and or expressed by dividing 12.5 by 100, which has the potential to likely yield .125…
But this is all pure speculation.
Formulaically, this might translate as:
12.5% = 12.5(1/100) = 12.5/100
And because when dividing by 10, you move the period one place to the left, you would move it 2 places to the left because we're dividing by 100, i.e. 10*10, or 10^2.
Notice: 12.5/10 = 1.25; 1.25/10 = 0.125.
So, yeah, hypothetically (don't take my word for it)
12.5% expressed as a decimal could be .125
I'm probably completely crazy though..
Let's take 12.5 and get it to a number that we know assuredly has common multiples with one hundred.
25 is a good on and hey! It's like a cousin to 12.5, only twice as cool.
So…12.5(1/100) ×2 = 25(1/100)
Multiply, and we get 25/100, which equals 1/4.
Now that we have it in a known fraction, we'll divide it by 2 to get it back to it's original value.
1/4/2 = 1/8.
Calc check and what we got? 1/8 = .125
