Let the acid be HCL
Reaction;Mg+2HCL→MgCl2+H2
This shows that 1 mole of Mg(atomic mass=24g)will produce 1 mole of H2(Molar mass=2g)
24g of Mg will produce =1 mole of hydrogen
Thus 12g of Mg will produce=1 mole of hydrogen×12g÷24g=0.5moles of hydrogen
