There are different boards for education in India. If one passes higher secondary exams through CBSE or ICSE then there is different grading system however if students pass from regional or state boards then there is a bit different grading system.
For passing matriculation examinations with new grading systems student is awarded upto 10 CGPA starting from 4 to 10 according to their performance in matrics exams. These grading systems are actually percentile of combined grade aggregates of their subjects.
And this grading system is same for all India boards including state boards, CBSE and ICSE etc. However
There is a bit difference because of different syllabus and official fundamentals among the different educational institutions for intermediate exams.
For CBSE or ICSE educational board :
If a student gets 80% or more than 80% marks in intermediate exams then student is passed with first Division with Honours.
If student gets below 80 but above 60% then he or she is first division.
If student gets below 60% but above 45% then it is said to be second division.
And finally if student scores less than 45% and above passing marks it is called third division.
In State Board exams there is just a bit change i.e. if student gets 75% or more than 75% marks student will be considered to have passed the exam with honours and has acquired First Division with Honours
And rest would be same for all boards and CBSE, ICSE etc. Similarly
For Higher Studies in India Similar procedure of grading system is followed for CGPA and percentage marks.
Above 75 % or 7.5 CGPA Honours or Distinction
60 to 74% First Division.
45 to 60% Second Division.
Less than 45 >35 % Third Division and Vice versa.
Hope this will help !!!
