Given :-

A floor of a building consists of 2,500 tiles. All the tiles are rhombus shaped with diagonals 40 cm and 25 cm.

To find :-

The total cost of polishing the floor at the rate of ₹8 per square meter.

Solution :-

Given that

Diagonals of a rhombus shaped tile are

d1 = 40 cm

d2 = 25 cm

We know that

Area of a rhombus whose diagonals are d1 and d2 is (1/2)d1×d2 sq.units

Area of the rhombus shaped tile

= (1/2)×40×25 cm²

= (40×25)/2

= 20×25

= 500 cm²

Area of each tile = 500 cm²

Number of tiles in the floor = 2500

Total area of all tiles in the floor

= 2500×500

= 1250000 cm²

Total area of all tiles is 1250000 cm²

We know that

1 m² = 10000 cm²

1250000 cm² = 125

The area of all tiles = 125

The cost of polishing the floor at the reate of 1 m² = ₹8

Total cost of polishing the floor of 125 m²

= 125×8

= ₹ 1000

Answer :-

The total cost of polishing the floor of the room is ₹ 1000

Used formulae:-

Area of a rhombus whose diagonals are d1 and d2 is (1/2)d1×d2 sq.units

1 m² = 10000 cm²

UNDERSTANDING CONCEPT :-

  • First, find the area of the rhombus using the formula, A = 1/2 (d₁ × d₂), where d₁ and d₂ are the length of the diagonals of the rhombus. Next, multiply it with 2,500 to find the total area of the floor.Convert the area into ( m²) and then multiply
  • it by 8 to find the total cost .

QUESTION :-

  • A floor of a building consists of 2,500 tiles. All the tiles are rhombus shaped with diagonal 40 cm and 25 cm. Find the total cost of polishing the floor at the rate of ₹8 per square meter.

GIVEN :-

  • A floor of a building consists of 2,500 tiles. All the tiles are rhombus shaped with diagonal 40 cm and 25 cm

TO FIND :-

  • Find the total cost of polishing the floor at the rate of ₹8 per square meter = ?

SOLUTION :-

The diagonals of the rhombus are

40 and 25

The area of one tile is area of Rhombus

having diagonal d₁,d₂ given

= 1/2 d₁ × d₂

= 1/2 × 40 × 25

= 40 × 12.5

= 500

The area of 2,500 such tiles is

2500 × 500

1250000 cm²

1250000 cm² = 125

polishing cost area of 1m² is rs 8

= 125 × 8

= rs 1000

So the total cost for polishing = rs 1000

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :-

  • we need to remember the formula to solve a mensuration problem. There can be many variations for this question. Instead of rhombus shape tiles, it can be the triangular shape or square shape tiles. we need to use the formula accordingly.
