Answers
Answer:
a) The mode of reproduction used by the organism is regeneration. It is a type of asexual reproduction in which if an organism is cut into two parts, each part gives rise to a new individual. It occurs in those organisms which have a very simple structure with very few specialized cells. Regeneration is of two types, morphallaxis, and epimorphosis.
b) The types of cells which carry out this process are called stem cells. These are specialized cells that play important role in regeneration. These develop into many different types of cells in the body and renew themselves many times.
c) Two examples of organisms that multiply by the process of regeneration are hydra and planaria.
d) Fragmentation is also a type of asexual reproduction in which an organism breaks into pieces at maturity and gives rise to a different individual. An example is a spirogyra.
