Condition For positive acceleration:-

when the motion of an object is same as the direction in acceleration the body has said to be positive acceleration.

Ex:- The free falling body has positive acceleration.

Condition for negative acceleration :-

When the direction of motion of body is opposite to the direction of the acceleration then it is said to be negative acceleration also known as retardation .

Ex :- when we apply brakes the velocity of car has negative acceleration .
