1. Positive acceleration occurs due to the increase in speed.
Even a slight increase indicates that the acceleration has not moved into the negative direction.
According to the equation of motion a= (v-u)/t V is the final velocity and u is the initial velocity.
If v is more than u, the acceleration would be positive.
2. Negative acceleration= In the above example, if we apply the break, the speed of the object decreases. Then it has negative acceleration. So we can say that it is decelerating.
