QUESTION:
Let A = { 6, 9, 15, 18, 21 }; B = { 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 } and f : A → B be defined by
f( x) = (x-3)/3. Represent f by
(i) an arrow diagram (ii) a set of ordered pairs
(iii) a table (iv) a graph

Arrow diagrams :
A relation is a link between the elements of two sets based on some common property. The two ways of representing relations by making ARROW diagrams and by expressing in the roster form.
•To represent an ordered pair (x ,y) in the arrow diagram draw an arrow from x to y.
•To form an ordered pair from a set A to set b on the basis of an arrow diagram. write the element from set A first, followed by the element of the set B to which the arrow points.

SOLUTION:
GIVEN :
A = { 6, 9, 15, 18, 21 }; B = { 1, 2, 4, 5, 6}
f : A → B defined by f( x) = (x-3)/3

f(6) = (6-3)/3= 3/3 = 1
f(9) = (9-3)/3= 6)2= 2
f(15) = (15 -3)/3= 12/3= 4
f(18) = (18-3)/3= 15/3= 5
f(21) = (21-3)/3= 18/3 = 6

ii)
Set of ordered pairs :
{(6,1),(9,2),(15,4),(18,5),(21,6)
