Step-by-step explanation:

Let X = the present age of the father and Y = the present age of the son.

X+Y=60 so X=60-Y

X+14=3*(Y+14)

so X=3*(Y+14)-14

so X=3Y+28

Also, X=60-Y

So

60-Y=3Y+28

32=4Y

8=Y

X= 60-Y = 60-8 and so X=52

The present age of the father is 52 years old and the boy is 8 years old

 \sf \: Father's  \: age = ( x + 14 )

 \sf \: Son's \:  age  = ( 60 - x + 14 ) \\ \sf \: = ( 74 - x )

 \star{ \frak{ \underline{According  \: to \: the \:  question, }}}

: \implies \sf \:  \:  \: x + 14 = 3 ( 74 - x ) \\ \\ : \implies \sf \:  \:  \:x + 14 = 222 - 3x\\ \\ : \implies \sf \:  \:  \:x + 3x = 222 - 14 \\ \\: \implies \sf \:  \:  \: 4x = 208 \\ \\ : \implies \sf \:  \:  \:x =  \dfrac{208}{4} \\  \\: \implies \sf \:  \:  \: x = 52

 \therefore Present age's :

 \sf \: Father's  \: age = x = 52 \:  years

 \sf \: Son's  \: age = 60 - 52 \\  \sf= 8 \:  years
