Let age of son be 'x'

So age of father is '6x'

After four years son's age is x+4.

So fathers age is 4(x+4)

6x + 4 =4(x+4)

6x + 4 = 4x + 16

6x - 4x = 16 - 4

2x = 12

∴The present ages of son and father is 6 years and 36 years respectively.
