13. The ratio of the expenditure to the income of a family is 4: 9. Find the income of the family if there saving is 4500​

As ,

Expenditure + Saving = Income

Then ,

the ratio of expenditure to income is 4:9

= 4x and 9x

Savings are 4500

4x + 4500 = 9x

( Transposing 4x to R.H.S )

( 4x is in positive it will become negative )

4500 = 9x - 4x

4500 = 5x

( Transposing 5 from 5x to L.H.S )

( 5 is multiplying with x as 5x refer 5 × x ,on transposing 5 will divide )

4500÷5 = x

900 = x

Now , as expenditure is 4x

and x value is 900 then

expenditure is 900×4 = 3600 Rs.

Now , as income is 9x

and value of x is 900 then

income is 900×9 = 8100 Rs.
