This question is incorrectly given by you as per you y is 9 and transposing it we find,

13(9-4)-3(9-8)=5(9+4)

13*5-3*1= 65

65-3 is not equal to 65.

Hence in this equation 48/5 is the answer.

If y would be 9 then equation is 13 (y-4)-3(y-9)= 5(y+4).
