Let bigger number be x and the smaller number be y.

From question we know that x - y = 10  ---------            equation 1

or x = 10 + y

Also, 1/5= ( x + y ) = 8                 ----------                equation 2

Putting the value of x in equation 2 we get,

             (10 + y + y)/ 5 = 8

             (10 + 2 y) = 40

             2 ( 5 + y) = 40

                 5 + y = 40 / 2

                 5 + y = 20

                     y = 15

The smaller number is 15

The larger number is

        x - 15 = 10

        x = 25
