(a) Indicators are dyes or mixtures of dyes used to indicate the presence of acids and bases.

Litmus and turmeric are natural indicators obtained from plants.

(b) Na2O + H2O --------) 2NaOH

NaOH turns phenolphthalein to pink and red litmus blue

(c) NaOH + HCl ---------) NaCl + H2O

It is called a neutralisation reaction because and acid reacts with a base to produce salt and water.
