GIVEN :-

  • Speed of sound wave , v = 339 m/s.
  • wavelength of sound wave , λ = 1.5 cm.

TO FIND :-

  • The frequency of the wave.

SOLUTION :-

Since , the speed of the sound wave in m/s , so we have to convert the wavelength of sound wave into m.

1 m = 100 cm.

→ λ = 1.5 cm

→ λ = 1.5/100 m

→ λ = 0.015 m

As we know that, Frequency = speed of sound/Wavelength.

Frequency = speed of sound(v) /Wavelength (λ).

339/0.015

→ 339 × 1000/15

→ 339000/15

22600

As we know that, S.I unit of frequency is Hertz (Hz) therefore the frequency of wave will be in Hz.

→ Frequency = 22600 Hz.

As we know that, the normal audible range for human is 20 Hz to 20k Hz So , the frequency of the wave is to 22600 Hz therefore it is not audible.

Hence the frequency of the wave is 22600 Heartz and it will not audible.
