Answer:

Explanation:

This is brief about conducting tissues.

Water Conducting tissue(WCT) is a part of the vascular system of Plants (Flowering i.e.Angiosperms and Non-flowering i.e. Gymnosperms).

The main function of WCT is to dissolve minerals and transfer them to the whole plant from roots.

There are two types of water conducting tissues namely Xylem and Phloem in Higher Plants.

Xylem (in brief):

It is formed of mainly dead cells.

Facilitates the movement of water and minerals throughout the plant. It helps in compensating with the water loss during poces of photosynthesis and transpiration.

Xylem is of two types Primary xylem (consists of protoxylem and metaxylem) and Secondary xylem.

Xylem can be identified by the presence of tracheiry elements

The phenomenon that causes xylem fluid or sap to move are Transpirational Pull-that is caused by the evaporation of water from the leaf surface. And other is Root Pressure-which is created when water in roots becomes less than that in soil, then through osmosis water moves into the root. This causes a pressure that forces xylem sap to move.

Phloem:

This is another water conducting tissue but consists of less specialised living cells. This helps in transporting mainly sugars dissolved in water. This sugar is transported to non-photosynthetic parts like roots and other storage parts of the plant.

Phloem can be identified by the presence of Sieve tubes(lack a nucleus and have many vacuoles with ribosomes) and companion cells (have large no. of ribosomes and mitochondria).

Answer:

XYLEM conducts water and minerals from roots to all parts of the plants. This process is called ascent of sap.
