Fossils are considered important in study of evolution because they provide evidence in favour of evolution and establish evolitionary relationship by providing missing links.
Two ways to estimate the age of fossils are:-
(i) It is relative method. If wedding into the earth and start finding fossils the fossils we find closer to the surface are more recent than the fossils we find in deeper layer.
(ii) The second way of dating fossils is by detecting the ratio of different isotope of same element in Fossil material.
