Hey there !

Thanks for the question !

 \frac{ 14x^2 - 5x - 1 }{7x + 1 }

 \text{ Factorising the numerator we get:} \: \\ \\ \implies 14x^2 - 7x + 2x - 1 = 0 \\ \\ \implies 7x ( 2x - 1 ) +1 ( 2x - 1 ) = 0 \\ \\ \implies ( 7x + 1 )(2x - 1 )

 \text{ Substituting in the numerator we get:} \: \frac{ ( 7x + 1 ) ( 2x - 1 )}{ ( 7x + 1 ) } \\ \\ \implies ( 7x + 1 ) \text{ will get cancelled. Hence we get,} \: \frac{ ( 2x - 1 )}{1} which \: is \: ( 2x - 1 ). \\ \\ \boxed{ \text{ Hence we get the answer as:}\: \: 2x + 1 }
