Answer:

Total profit = Rs. 720

Step-by-step explanation:

Total Potatos bought P = 120 kg

Rate of Purchase = 24 Rs./kg

∴ Total Purchase amount = 24 × 120 = Rs. 2880

∴ Total Purchase amount Pr = Rs. 2880  ....(1)

He sold 80 kgs with 50% profit.

Selling price for 80 kg = 24 + 24× 50% = Rs36 /kg

∴ Selling price S80 = 36 × 80 = Rs.2880  ....(2)

Remaining potatos = 120 - 80 = 40 kg

40kgs are sold at loss of 25%

∴ Selling price = 24 - 24 × 24% = 24-6 = 18

∴ Selling price for 40 kg = Rs. 18 / kg

∴ Selling price for 40 kg S40 = 40 × 18 =720 rs. ... (3)

From 2 and 3, total selling price S

S = S80 + S40

∴ S = 2880 + 720 = 3600 .... (4)

Total Profit = S - Pr   (Profit as Selling price > purchase price)

∴ Total Profit = 3600 - 2880 = 720

∴ Total Profit = Rs. 720
