Question :

Explain sex determination process in human .

Answer :

The human allosome ( sex chromosomes) has two types of alleles X and Y . The human females are homozygous containing one type of Allele ( XX) while the males are heterozygous having both types of alleles ( XY) .

When the gametes are produced , these factors (alleles) get separated and each gamete receives only one factor . When fertilisation occurs , these gametes ( Haploid) fuse together to form deploid zygote .

Now , when the gametes are formed from mother cell , each gamete will have X allele while in male gamete , two types of gametes will be formed .

One type will have X allele and other will have Y allele .

  • If the X allele gamete of male fuses with female gamete , zygote produced will have XX pair of alleles giving rise to baby girl .
  • If the Y allele gamete of male fuses with female gamete , zygote produced will have XY pair of alleles giving rise to baby boy .
