15 students of class X took part in the examination of Indian mathematics olympiad. The number of boys participants is 5 less than the number of girls participants. Find the number of boys and girls (using a graph) who took part in the examination of Indian mathematics olympiad

let the number of boys who participated in examination be x and girl be y.

according to questions,

x + y = 15--------------( 1 )

and The number of boys participants is 5 less than the number of girls participants.

so, x = y - 5
x - y = -5----------( 2 )

From-------( 1 ) & --------( 2 )

x + y = 15
x - y = -5
---------------
2x = 10

x = 10/2 = 5
x = 5 [ put in ------( 1 ) ]

we get,

x + y = 15

y = 15 - x

y = 15 - 5

y = 10

HENCE, the no. Of boys who participated in examination is 5, and girl be 10.
