Eco Clubs play an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the future generation. 2000 Eco-Clubs have been established in Government, Aided, Private, Public Schools and Colleges of NCT of Delhi. Department of Environment provides increased token grant @Rs. 20,000-/ to each Eco Club School/College for undertaking various Eco-friendly activities.
Aims and Objectives of the Scheme:-
To create environmental awareness among the school & college students for environmental improvement and to inculcate the culture of eco-friendliness and environmental conservation among them.
To enroll all the registered schools and colleges of Delhi in Eco-Club

Awareness activities through Eco-Clubs:-

To conduct various Environment Campaigns involving various schools
& Colleges.
Appreciation awards to Best Eco-club schools and colleges
Various Competitions at State/ School / College level to be conducted
including poster competition, quizzes, etc. and organizing Annual Eco-
Meet and Vacation Programme for students
To create awareness regarding Yamuna pollution, its cleaning and
rejuvenation among students:visit to water bodies/ rain water harvesting
structures/ biodiversity parks. Practicing water conservation activities.
Organizing Eco-meet by the department.
To involve participation of students in various environment related activities
such as construction of compost pits, segregation of waste, tree plantation,
carrying out tree census, preparation of biodiversity index in schools and
colleges and immediate neighborhoods.
The schools participate in the Eco-Club programme voluntarily and the Department also persuade Schools and Colleges to join in the programme. The procedure for enrollment is very simple and is to be done as per the proforma DOWNLOAD
After completion of the programme in a given financial year under the eco-club scheme the schools/colleges are required to submit the utilization/detailed report on various activities taken up during the year in the prescribed proforma DOWNLOAD
