AnswEr:-

Present age of mother and son are 45 years & 15 years respectively.

\rule{200}{2}

Solution:-

Let the present ages of son be n years.

∴ Present age of mother = 3n years.

Case 1:-

15 years hence, mother's age = 2 times son's age.

According to question:-

⇒ 3n + 15 = 2(n + 15)

⇒ 3n + 15 = 2n + 30

⇒ 3n - 2n = 30 - 15

n = 15

Present ages:-

Present age of son

⇒ n years

15 years.

\rule{150}{2}

Present age of mother

⇒ 3n years

⇒ 3(15) years.

45 years.

Therefore,

Present age of mother & son are 45 years & 15 years respectively.

Given:-

  • After 15 years from now, the age of the mother will be twice the age of her son.
  • mother's present age is thrice her son's age.

To find:-

The present ages of the mother and the son.

Solution:-

Let the age of the son be x.

Then the age of the mother = 3x

A/q,

3x + 15 = 2(x + 15)         (∵15 is added in their ages as 15 years passed)

⇒3x + 15 = 2x + 30

⇒3x - 2x = 30 - 15

\boxed{x = 15}

So, the present age of the son = x = 15 years.

now, the present age of the mother = 3x = 3*15 = 45 years.

∴ The present age of the son is 15 years and the present age of the mother is 45 years.
