The mass percentage of solute and solvent in the solution is 13.79 % and 86.20 % respectively.

• The formula for mass % of a solute is given as : Mass % = (mass of solute / mass of solution) × 100 %

• Similarly, the formula for mass % of a solvent is given as : Mass % = (mass of solvent / mass of solution) × 100 %

• Temperautre doesn't play any role here as the entire formula is mass dependent. So, the temperautre condition can be ignored.

• Now, given,

Mass of NaOH (solute) = 16 gm

Mass of water (solvent) = 100 gm

Mass of the solution = mass of solute + mass of solvent = 16 gm + 100 gm = 116 gm

• Therefore, applying the above mentioned formula,

mass % of solute = (16 / 116) × 100 % = 13.79 %

mass % of solvent = (100 / 116) × 100 % = 86.20 %
