let the no of boys be x and girls be.y
so according to the question,
2y=x–1
=>x=2y +1
also x+y=16
=>x=16–y
therefore
16–y=2y+ 1
3y=15
y=5
x =9
so according to the question,

therefore
16–y=2y+ 1
3y=15
y=5
x =9
