Answer:

10 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the current ages be as follows,

Woman = W

Daughter = D

When the woman was 29 the son was born. This happened about some X years back. So the age of them X years back is,

Woman = 29

Son = 0 (just born)

Daughter = 3

Now coming back to the current time, we know that X years have passed and the current age of the son is X now. So we can now have an equation,

W = 3D

W = 29 + X

D = 3 + X

29 + X = 3( 3 + X)

29 + X = 9 + 3X

2X = 20

X = 10

X is the age of the son.

The son is 10 years. :)

10 years

let the current age of the daughter (not son) be x

The son is three years younger than the daughter

Hence she was born three years before the son was= when the mother was 29-3=26 years old

3x=x+26

3x-x=2x=26

x=26÷2=13

The son is three years younger than the daughter

13-3=10
