Given that :-

Profit of shopkeeper on selling a pen = Rs.1

Loss of shopkeeper on selling a pencil = 50 paisa or Rs.0.50

To find :-

Profit or Loss of the shopkeeper in April if he sold 50 pens and 30 pencils.

Profit or Loss of the shopkeeper in May if he sold 15 pens and 45 pencils.

Pencils sold in June by the shopkeeper if he sold 30 pens and his loss was of Rs.10.

Required :-

If the pens sold is more than double the pencil sold, its profit or else loss.

(i) Here,

50 > 30

= Profit.

Profit of

= (50 × 1) - (30 × 0.50)

= 50 - 15

= Rs.35

Answer :- There was a profit of Rs.35 in April.

(ii) Here,

45 > 15

= Loss

Loss of

= (45 × 0.50) - (15 × 1)

= 22.50 - 15

= Rs.7.50

(iii) The pens sold is 30 and loss is Rs.10, so the pencils sold is

= 30 × 1 = Rs.30 - Profit

= If 80 pencils are sold so the loss is Rs.40 and there was already a profit of Rs.30, so (Rs.40 - Rs.30) = Loss of Rs.10.
