Given,

Length of steel wire=0.92m

Mass of the steel wire=5.0×10^-3kg

To Find,

The speed of transverse waves on the wire.

Solution,

Here mass, length and tension of the wire are given.

So mass per unit length, m=5.0×10^-3kg/0.92m

                                            =5.4×10^-3kg/m

The speed of the transverse wave on the wire,

v=√T/m

 =√80/5.4×10^-3

 =38m/s

Hence, the speed of transverse waves on the wire is 38m/s.
