170+(x-y)=130+(y-x)

What is the value of x and y

170+(x-y)=130+(y-x)

170 + x - y = 130 + y - x

170 - 130 + x + x = y + y

2x + 40 = 2y

2x - 2y + 40 = 0

2( x - y + 20) = 0

x - y + 20 = 0 .......(1)

From (1)

x - y + 20 = 0

x = y - 20.....(2)

x + 20 = y.....(3)


Substitute (2)...in (1)

x - y + 20 = 0

y - 20 -y + 20 = 0

0 = 0

So x = y-20 ; y = x + 20
