It's an age of dilemma, you graduate from High School around that time, look for a college, get admitted to it, you try to adjust yourself to the college schedules, you are never treated like a child anymore, you have to earn or do some part time, or get really serious, develop some skills, for you no longer depend on grades

And unfortunately it's the age where your parents gain the legal rights to kick you outta the house (if they want)
