first we find the area of rectangle of sides, length = 14 cm and breadth = 8 cm
area of rectangle = length x breadth
= 14 cm x 8 cm
= 112 cm square.
and also area of trapezium = 1/2 x sum of parallel sides x distance between them
= 1/2 x ( 8 + 16 ) x 5.5
= 1/2 x 24 x 5.5
= 12 x 5.5
= 66 cm square.
total area = area of rectangle + area of trapezium
total area = 112 + 66
total area = 178 cm squares......
