We know,

Let the volume of the NH₃ solution be “V” ml.

∴ Mass of the solution = 0.9 * V
Also, we are given that the solution contains 40% by mass of NH₃, therefore,
Mass of water will be = 60% of the mass of solution = (60/100)*0.9V ….. (ii)
Comparing eq. (i) & (ii), we get
180 = (60/100) * 0.9 V
⇒ 180 = 0.6*0.9 V
⇒ 180 = 0.54 V
⇒ V = 180/0.54 = 333.33 ml
Thus the volume of NH₃ solution is 333.33 ml .
