Explanation:

Where are points X and Y?

To simplify,

PQ has 2 resistors of 3 ohm connected in series, the resultant of which is connected in parallel to another 3 ohm resistor.

R net = R1 + R2 in a series

=> R net = 3 + 3

= 6 ohms

Now we have this 6 ohm resistor connected in parallel with a 3 ohm resistor.

R net = [ 1/R1 + 1/R2 ]^-1

= [ 1/6 + 1/3 ]^-1

2 ohms

Hence the resistance between points P and Q is 2 ohms.

Assuming that the points X and Y are including the other 2 resistances of 3 ohms each,

the resistors 3 ohms 2 ohms and 3 ohms are in series

Hence the total resultant resistance ( bet. X and Y) = 2 + 3 + 3

= 8 ohms
