Solution:

LHS =(√2-1)/(√2+1)

Rationalising the denominator, we get

= [(√2-1)(√2-1)]/[(√2+1)(√2-1)]

= (√2-1)²/[(√2)²-1²]

= [(√2)²+1²-2*√2*1]/(2-1)

= 2+1-2√2

= 3-2√3

= 3+(-2)√3

= a+b√2 [ given RHS ]

Compare it , we get.

a = 3 , b = -2
