1. Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson are planning a vacation to celebrate their anniversary and are considering reserving a room at the Abraham Hotel.
The hotel website shows a drawing of the room they requested. The room is drawn to scale. The width of the room on the scale drawing is 5 in.
(a) The area of the requested room is . Using the area measurement and the scale, find the perimeter of the room. Show your work.
(b) When Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson arrive at the hotel, they are given a room with different dimensions for the same price. A scaled version of the new room, using the same scale used for the first room, is 12 in. long and 6 in. wide. Find the area of the new room in feet. Which room is larger, the room from Part (a) or the room from Part (b)? Show your work.
