Question -

Find the following pair of equations by substitution method -

2x+2y=0

2y+3x=0

Solution -

Given equations,

2x+2y=0.......1)

And,

2y + 3x = 0

2y =  - 3x.........2)

Putting the value of 2y in equation 1) we will get -

\implies2x + 2y = 0

\implies2x + ( - 3x) = 0

\implies2x - 3x = 0

\implies - x = 0

\implies \: x = 0

Now, substituting the value of x in equation 2) we will get -

\implies2y + 3x = 0

\implies2y + 3 \times 0 = 0

\implies2y + 0 = 0

\implies2y = 0

\implies \: y =  \frac{0}{2}

\implies \: y = 0

Verification -

=>2x+2y=0

Putting the value of x and y,

=>2×0+2×0=0

=>0+0=0

=>0=0

Also,

=>2y+3x=0

Putting the value of x and y,

=>2×0+3×0=0

=>0+0=0

=>0=0

L.H.S = R. H. S

Verified.

Therefore the value of x is 0 and y is 0
