Concept

a mixed fraction can be converted to a normal one as

(whole number * denominator + numerator)/ denominator

Given

an expression 2/3 × 5 1/5

Find

we need to simplify the expression and reduce it to the lowest form

Solution

We have

2/3 × 5 1/5

first we convert 5 1/5 from a mixed fraction to normal one by using the formula given above.

thus,

5 1/5 = (5*5+1)/ 5

= (25+1)/5

= 26/5

now we can write the expression as

2/3 * 26/5

= (2*26)/(5*3)

= 52/15

The above fraction cannot be simplified further.

Thus, the value of 2/3×5 1/5 in lowest form is 52/15
