Let the original number be x

According to given, 2x/3 = x - 20
                               2x/3 - x = -20
                               2x -3x/3 = -20
                               -x/3 = -20
                               -x = -20 *3
                               -x = -60
                                x = 60

Therefore, the original number is 60
