According to the question,

$\: \: \sf \: 2(3x - 1) = 16 \\ \\ \: \: \sf\: 6x - 2 = 16 \\ \\ \: \: \sf \: 6x = 16 + 2 \\ \\ \: \: \sf \: 6x = 18 \\ \\ \: \: \sf \: x = 3$

Henceforth,the value of x is 3.
