Answer:

a) x = 0.14

b) x = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

a) Given:

                    28 : x = 200 ,  That is;

                    \frac{28}{x}=200

                  Cross multiply :

                 28 = 200 × x

                 x=\frac{28}{200}

                  x = 0.14

b) Given :

                    (3+\frac{4}{x} ):(5+\frac{2}{x} )=1 ,        Lets take LCM

                    (\frac{3x+4}{x}):(\frac{5x+2}{x}) =1            that is ;

                    \frac{\frac{3x+4}{x} }{\frac{5x+2}{x} } =1

   The x in the denominator will get cancelled and we get the equation as ;

                  \frac{3x+4}{5x+2} =1            Cross multiply

                  3x + 4 = 5x + 2

                  3x - 5x = 2 - 4

                 - 2x = -2

                   x=\frac{-2}{-2}

                   x = 1
