2. A circus tent is cylindrical to a height of 3 m and conical above it. If its base radius is 52.5 m and the slant height of the conical portion is 53 m, find the area of canvas needed to make the tent. ​

Radius of the cone = 52.5m

Height of the cylinder = 3m  

Slant height of the cone = 53m  

Area of the canvas = curved surface area of cone + curved surface area of cylinder

= πrl + 2πrh                            ( Remember this l here means the slant height)

= πr ( l + 2h)

= 22/7 X 52.5 ( 53 + 2 X 3 )

= 22 X 7.5 ( 53 + 6 )

= 165 X 59

= 9735 m²

Hence,  the area of the canvas needed to make the tent is 9735 m²
