a)Chord is any line segment drawn on the circle , which has both its endpoints on the circumference of the circle. Every diameter is a chord . This is because its end points lie on the circumference of the circle.

b)Chord is a line that joins any two points on the circle.... But diameter is the line that passes through the centre of the circle joining any two points on the circle. So every chord of a circle is not the diameter but a diameter is the longest chord of the circle.
