Average speed = Total Distance/Total time

Total distance = 40 km

Total Time = T1 +T2+T3+T4

Time = Distance/speed then T1 = 10/10 = 1hour

T2=10/20=1/2hour

T3=10/30=1/3hour

T4=10/40=1/4hour

T=T1+T2+T3+T4=1 + 1/2 + 1/3 + 1/4= 25/12 hour =2hour 5min

Average speed = 40km/25/12hour=19.2 km per hour

The average speed of the man is 19.2km per hour
