(b) Ethanoic acid reacts with sodium bicarbonate to give CO2 which causes brisk effervescence.

2CH3COOH + Na2CO3 ----------> CH3COONa + H2O + CO2

(c) Acetic acid reacts with sodium bicarbonate as per the reaction given below:-

CH3COOH + NaHCO3 → CH3COONa + H2O + CO2

The gas evolved is carbon dioxide which can be analysed by passing it through lime water, which makes the lime water milky.
