A person is pulling a bucket filled completely with water with the help of a light pulley. Mass of the bucket along with water
contained in it is 20kg. The buoyant force by water is applied to bucket is 5N upwards and viscous force by water also acts
downwards equal to 5N. In this situation the tension in the string is Ti. After some time bucket comes one of water. Now the
tension in string reduces and becomes T2. Accelerations of bucket in water and air are
(ain water
1m/s?, Qin air = 1.5m/s²)

Answer:

T1=220 N and T2=230N

Explanation:

total force an be given as

F=ma

in water

total force is

due to gravity mg=20×10=200N (g=10m/s^2) downward

tension T1 upward

and buoyant force is 5N upward

viscous force is 5N downward

so

total force is upward force-downward force

so

T1 + 5 - 200 - 5=ma

and

T1=ma+200

and

m= 20kg and a=1m/s^2

so

T1=20×1+200

T1=220N

and in air there will be no viscosity and buoyant force so

total force is

T2 - 200=ma

here m=20 kg and a=1.5m/s^2

so

T2=20×1.5+200

so T2=230N
